Iris (Kate Winslet) is in love with a man who is about to marry another. Living on the other side of the globe, Amanda (Cameron Diaz), learns that the man with whom he was living her unfaithful. Two women who have never met and live at a distance of over 4 000 miles, meet in the network, helping arrange at exchange houses and impulse exchange homes for the holidays. Iris introduced to Amanda's home in sunny Los Angeles, and Amanda comes to snow-capped
English village. Shortly after arriving at their destination, both women find what is least expected: romance. Amanda is charmed by Iris handsome brother, Graham (Jude Law) while Iris, guided by the inspiration of the legendary Hollywood screenwriter Arthur (Eli Wallach), a cure for her broken heart meeting with film composer Miles (Jack Black).
